Browns' Greg Newsome gets shocking trade news image

Greg Newsome could be approaching the end of the line in Cleveland.

The Browns drafted the cornerback out of Northwestern with the No. 26 overall pick in 2021.

But with a new NFL Draft approaching, guys like Newsome have their names surface in trade rumors.

It's how it goes for Newsome, who is entering the club option year of his rookie deal (that has already been activated). He'll be a free agent after the season.

That's why ESPN's Adam Schefter called Newsome "expendable" in a new story released Monday.

Newsome, who turns 25 in May, has been good but not great in his Browns career.

He has three interceptions, including one pick-six, across four seasons. He also has 155 tackles in 54 games.

Cleveland might be looking toward a rebuild, so even a late-round pick for Newsome makes sense.

That'd be better than letting Newsome play out his contract in a lost season and then walk away in free agency for no return for the Browns.

An acquiring team might bet on Newsome's pedigree and NFL experience (42 starts already) being factors that will allow him to continue to improve and fit into the right system.

Because of all the other happenings in Cleveland, Newsome's name hasn't been brought up much this offseason. But based on Schefter's reporting, it sounds like moving Newsome soon is definitely in play.
