The Cleveland Browns have wrapped up mini-camp, and the next time we see the team will be next month for training camp. Just because the Browns are off the field, though, doesn't mean the discussion, debate, and speculation will go away surrounding the quarterback position.
The question remains - will it be Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, or Shedeur Sanders to start the season? Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com shared an interesting thought on why the Browns seem to want it to be Dillon Gabriel.
“I think it’s very significant right now that they’re throwing first-teamers at Dillon," Cabot said. "Dillon is playing with the first-team offense against the first-team defense. I mean, those are choice quality reps that he’s getting.”
Gabriel got the most reps of any Browns quarterback during OTAs and mini-camp. According to ESPN Cleveland, Gabriel had 83 pass attempts. The next closest quarterback was Kenny Pickett, who had 63. The more reps for Gabriel would seem to indicate that the Browns want to see as much of Gabriel as possible and hope he can earn the starting job.
