The Cleveland Browns enter the 2025 season with very low expectations. They are coming off a dreadful 2024 which saw them pick in the top five of the 2025 NFL Draft, and their quarterback situation is one of the worst in the NFL, with Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders duking it out to be the Week 1 starter.
Because of the dreadful options at quarterback, the Browns will likely be out of the playoff hunt before the trade deadline, which could lead to the franchise off-loading stars in exchange for draft picks. In a recent piece for Touchdown Wire, I went through and predicted the next calendar year in the NFL. In the process, I predicted that the Browns would trade tight end David Njoku to the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the trade deadline.
"Njoku would be an upgrade over Grant Calcaterra, and would also allow Dallas Goedert to take a small step back as TE2 on the depth chart."
Njoku is on the final year of his current deal and it feels likely that he will sign elsewhere in 2026 anyway, so the Browns may as well get something in exchange for him.
