The Green Bay Packers officially ended the Jaire Alexander drama on Monday by releasing one of the NFC North's top cornerbacks rather than meet his contract demands, sparking speculation that there could be another move up GM Brian Gutenkust's sleeve.

And that 'other move' might be a trade for Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.

At least, it's an idea that Packers reporter Matt Schneidman floated on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after Alexander's release.

The Packers' need for an improved pass rush, combined with more than $46 million in salary cap space, makes the connection logical. Hendrickson is looking for a massive pay raise, one that will pay him consistent with the NFL's top edge rushers (north of $35 million per season).

The Bengals appear unwilling to meet his contract demands, leading Hendrickson to threaten to sit out the 2025 season.

Hendrickson has been an absolute monster the last two years. He's posted back-to-back seasons with 17.5 sacks.

If the Packers are serious about leveling up their pass rush, and a player like Trey Hendrickson is on their wish list, they'd likely have to pony up a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a whole lot of cash to do it.

But if there's any team that can pull it off this late in the offseason, it's Green Bay.
