The Buffalo Bills have had tremendous success when it comes to drafting and/or developing defensive backs. Tre'Davious White, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, Taron Johnson - it's a long list.
Christian Benford is the latest name to be added to that list. The former sixth-round pick earned a four-year extensions this past offseason after a tremendous showing in 2024. In the latest PFF rankings, Benford was ranked as the eighth-best cornerback in the NFL.
"Benford’s 87.1 PFF coverage grade over the past two years ranks fourth in the NFL, while his PFF advanced coverage grade places sixth," John Kosko writes. "Benford routinely maintains tight coverage and was the glue that held a porous Bills secondary together in 2024. He has allowed just 0.76 yards per cover snap and has missed only three tackles since 2023."
With Rasul Douglas gone and rookie Max Hairston stepping into a starting role immediately, Benford will be expected to be that top-10 cornerback he has proven to be, especially if the Bills expect to finally get over the hump and get to the Super Bowl.
