The Baltimore Ravens were dealt a significant blow to their defense on Tuesday, as it was revealed safety Ar'Darius Washington suffered a significant injury that could keep him out for the 2025 season.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Washington suffered a torn Achilles during conditioning, and the expectation is that the injury will keep him out for most or all of the 2025 season.

A former undrafted free agent, Washington worked his way into a starting safety role in 2025 after Marcus Williams was benched. He also showed versatility with his ability to play in the slot.

Thankfully, the Ravens drafted Georgia safety Malaki Starks in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, and he'll be the starter next to Kyle Hamilton in his first campaign.

However, Washington's injury is a significant blow to Baltimore's depth, which is a problem considering the Ravens had one of the worst pass defenses in the league last season.

On Wednesday, Washington took to Instagram to address his injury.

"Words can’t describe how I feel right now, up thinking all night why me? Why now? All I want to do is prove I’m one of the best in business (year) after (year)," he wrote. "But God said not right now, so until then we wait (Micah 7:7).

"I appreciate everybody who reached out. Major love, it won’t be to long until I’m back standing on business know (that)," Washington concluded.

With Washington on the shelf, the Ravens are going to need more out of Sanoussi Kane and Beau Brade this coming season. The team could also look to bring in a veteran to shore up the position.
