The Atlanta Falcons have spent the offseason trying to offload quarterback Kirk Cousins, who now holds a backup role and carries a hefty contract. However, the trade spotlight has recently shifted to tight end Kyle Pitts, as multiple teams have reportedly inquired about his availability.

“Multiple teams have reached out to the Falcons about the availability of TE Kyle Pitts.” While Schultz notes that “nothing is imminent” and Atlanta would still prefer to keep him, it would reportedly take “at least a Day 2 pick to even spark serious talks,” NFL Insider Jordan Schultz wrote.

Although the Falcons appear content keeping Pitts for at least the final year of his contract, he could be open to a new destination — especially one offering a more featured role in the offense.

“I don't think it's a situation where [the Falcons] are aggressively shopping [Pitts],” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. “But it appears, talking to some other teams, they think Atlanta is at least open to the possibility and Pitts might be as well. I'm told he loves Atlanta, this is not a situation where he's requesting a trade, but if he has a chance to go to maybe a better offense where he's more featured.”

In a hypothetical trade proposal, Josh Crysler of The Pewter Plank suggests the Falcons' division rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, should make a move for Pitts.

“This isn’t an argument for moving on from Otton or phasing him out of the offense. But frankly, Pitts is a more dynamic talent with a higher ceiling. If Tampa Bay were to pursue him, the two could complement each other and create mismatch nightmares for opposing defenses, especially in two-tight end sets,” Crysler wrote.

While Tampa Bay might love that idea, it's extremely unlikely that the Falcons would trade Pitts to a top NFC South rival. Still, if the right offer came in, Atlanta could reconsider. For now, Pitts remains firmly with the Falcons — though teams continue to call.
