Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are already making serious moves for their 2027 recruiting class, and they may be in the driver’s seat for the top quarterback in the country.
Longhorns impress local star Kavian Bryant after summer camp visit
Kavian Bryant, a rising junior from Palestine, Texas, made his first unofficial visit to Austin on June 5. It didn’t take long for him to come away impressed. Speaking with Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman, Bryant praised the Longhorns’ staff for their attention to detail and the way they worked with him during the camp.
“They didn’t just hype me up,” Bryant said. “They were honest, they gave real feedback, and I saw how much they care about the quarterback position. That stuck with me. And with Texas making the playoffs last season, it lines up with what I want, a shot to win a national title.”
Bryant has earned a four-star rating from Rivals and currently sits atop the national rankings for quarterbacks in the 2027 class. His stats back up the hype. Playing for Westwood High last season, Bryant threw for over 2,200 yards, added 33 touchdowns, and posted a quarterback rating of 127.2. He also completed nearly 70 percent of his passes over a 12-game campaign.
While Texas has made a strong first impression, they aren’t the only big-name program after him. Bryant has already picked up offers from Michigan and Florida State, and both schools have hosted him for visits as well. Expect that list to grow.

If the Longhorns end up landing him, it would mark the second consecutive year Sarkisian pulled in the country’s top-ranked quarterback. Texas already locked in Dia Bell for the 2026 class, setting up a potentially loaded QB room in the years ahead.
Bryant’s recruitment is just getting started, but Texas has put themselves in a great position early, and they did it the old-fashioned way. By coaching hard, setting expectations, and aiming for championships.
