It never makes much sense when teams try to compete but don't pay their top players. For Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, that's currently the situation he's dealing with.

After impressing during his few short years at Penn State, Parsons is arguably one of the greatest to ever lace them up in Nittany Lions history.

While he'll be paid eventually, it remains uncertain when the Cowboys plan to get a deal done.

However, according to Mike Fisher, a Cowboys Insider for Athlon Sports, the former Penn State star is believed to eventually get a record-setting deal, with him predicting and reporting that he'll sign the richest non-quarterback contract in NFL history.

"It's inevitable and it's almost inarguable,'' Fisher reported. "Micah is going to sign the richest-ever non-QB contract in NFL history.''

Parsons is an excellent player on the field, and he's shown some promising signs off the field. For the Cowboys, Parsons has continued to stay loyal to them, showing up to practices and much more.

With this contract situation still being played out, it's a bit surprising, but that just goes to show what they have in the former Penn State star.

But according to Athlon, that should only increase the price.

They urged the Cowboys to get something done.

“Such is his value as a player, but now, under Brian Schottenheimer, off the field too, as a new leader of the locker room, Micah getting tied down to a new contract would put the finishing touches on what has been a largely positive and productive offseason,” they wrote.
