Former Penn State star Micah Parsons is still without a contract for the Dallas Cowboys, a concerning sign for both parties.
Parsons is arguably a top edge in the NFL, and the longer the Cowboys wait, the more expensive the deal will become. As he demonstrated during his time at Penn State, he's one of the best players in the world, and at only 26 years old, he'll continue to improve.
But for whatever reason, Jerry Jones hasn't finalized a deal, and it's starting to become a bit of an issue.
When considering his next potential contract, some believe he might become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, and rightfully so.
USA Today recently looked at a potential deal for Parsons, predicting him to sign a $205 million contract over five seasons.
“This projected extension, five new years for $205 million, makes Parsons the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history and the first to surpass $200 million cumulative earnings in one deal. It is on top of the $24.007 million he is due on this year's fifth-year option. The $41 million of new money, per-year average trumps what Myles Garrett received in his four-year extension signed with the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason,” they wrote.

While it might sound crazy to suggest that if it only costs $200 million, the Cowboys should get the deal done, it's the right way to look at things.
Parsons is coming off another incredible season, in which he posted 12 sacks, bringing his total to 52.5 throughout the first four years of his NFL career.
Not only has he shown the ability to get to the quarterback, but he's good enough to man a defense.
For the Cowboys, that's worth a lot of money.
