One of the nation’s top wide receiver recruits will be committing this Saturday. Calvin Russell, the No. 4-ranked wide receiver for 2026, is currently predicted to land with the Michigan Wolverines.
Syracuse, Oregon, and Florida State are also in the running to land Russell. Russell is coming off an impressive junior season for Miami Northwestern Senior High School. He recorded 35 receptions, 645 yards, and 11 touchdowns last season.
As a five-star wide receiver recruit, Russell is the No. 2-ranked player in the state of Florida and the No. 32-ranked player in the country.
Given his talent, Russell has the opportunity to see significant playing time as a true freshman. If he commits to Michigan, he’ll be a reliable offensive weapon that quarterback Bryce Underwood can rely on.
Underwood has played a significant role in Russell’s recruitment for the Wolverines, as he wore his recruitment hat when Russell took his visit to Michigan.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has recruited a talented class for the 2026 season, and the addition of Russell would only strengthen it. Michigan currently has 20 commits for its 2026 class. The Wolverines have the 4th-best recruiting class in the Big Ten and the 11th-best in the country.
Throughout the recruitment process, Russell has built a great relationship with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, Sherrone Moore, and Michigan head basketball coach Dusty May, who has known him from recruiting him to play basketball at Florida Atlantic.
We’ll find out Saturday if the prediction for Russell to commit to Michigan becomes a reality. Russell is set to announce his commitment on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
