The Manning era begins: What to expect from Arch Manning’s first Year as Texas starter image

AUSTIN, TX – The Arch Manning era has officially arrived in Austin. After redshirting in 2023 and serving as Quinn Ewers’ backup in 2024, the sophomore quarterback is stepping into the starting role at a pivotal moment for Texas Football.

With the program now a full member of the SEC, Manning takes the reins of a team with high expectations and national title aspirations. His rise has been years in the making, and now the spotlight intensifies as he prepares to lead the Longhorns into a new era.

Manning showed flashes of his potential during limited action last season, including key plays with his arm and surprising mobility. This spring, he displayed improved command of the offense and delivered a highlight-reel touchdown throw in the team’s spring game, further solidifying his readiness to lead.

The offense around him will look slightly different. Texas is breaking in several new contributors at wide receiver and along the offensive line. Developing chemistry with new targets like Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore Jr. will be critical, especially early in the season. The offensive line’s ability to protect him will also play a significant role in the Longhorns’ success.

Manning’s athleticism gives Texas added flexibility. He rushed for four touchdowns in limited time last year and has shown the ability to escape pressure and create plays on the move. While not a dual-threat quarterback in the traditional sense, his mobility will be a valuable asset in a conference known for its speed and physicality.

Texas enters the season with a projected win total of around 10 games and eyes firmly set on competing for the SEC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Their season opener at Ohio State will immediately test Manning on one of the sport’s biggest stages and set the tone for what’s to come.

The expectations are immense, the spotlight is bright, and the stakes are higher than ever. But if Arch Manning delivers, he won’t just live up to the legacy—he’ll create one of his own in burnt orange.
