Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore has built a strong recruiting class for the 2026 season. The Wolverines are currently ranked eighth in the team recruit rankings for the 2026 season, with talent at multiple positions.
One position that the Wolverines are lacking in their 2026 class is at linebacker. Three-star linebacker Markel Dabney is the lone linebacker commit to Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class.
Michigan is set to lose its starting linebacker duo of Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham, so the Wolverines would benefit from adding two or more linebackers by the time their 2026 recruiting class is finalized.
The Wolverines have been heavily recruiting four-star linebacker Nick Abrams out of McDonough High School in Owings Mills, Maryland, for their 2026 class. Abrams is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday. He will be choosing between Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, and Georgia.
While adding Abrams would be a huge addition for the Wolverines, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Georgia is the favorite to land him.
There is still a chance that Abrams could commit to Michigan. Abrams recently told Michigan Wolverines on SI that the Wolverines were fighting to land him and that an appeal to play for Georgia might be too much. The Wolverines have one more day to convince Abrams to commit to Michigan
Abrams is ranked as the No. 249 player in the country and the 16th-best linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class. If the Wolverines were to miss out on Abrams, they still have the chance to land three-star DQ Forkpa and four-star Anthony Davis Jr at linebacker.
