Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has put together a strong recruiting class for the 2026 season. In recent weeks, Moore has been on a recruiting tear for Michigan, as the Wolverines have skyrocketed up the 2026 recruit football team rankings.
On Saturday afternoon, however, the Wolverines took a blow on the recruiting trail as 2026 four-star cornerback Brody Jennings flipped his commitment to Miami (FL).
As a four-star cornerback and top 300 recruit in the country out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Jennings originally committed to the Wolverines on July 28, 2024. He committed to Michigan over Miami, Florida, Florida State, and Auburn.
Since his commitment to Michigan, Miami has been pushing hard for Jennings to have a change of heart and flip his commitment to the Hurricanes. Miami succeeded with that task, as almost a year of persuasion caused Jennings to make up his mind about where he wanted to play his collegiate career.
Home-state advantage may have played a significant role in Jennings' decision to flip his commitment to Miami, as adding an in-state talent looks to be a part of the Hurricanes' plans for future success.
Miami is currently two spots ahead of Michigan with the seventh-best recruiting class for 2026, with a total of 20 commits.
While the loss of Jennings hurts for Michigan, the Wolverines' coaching staff is optimistic that his absence will only be a minor setback.
The Wolverines still have a ninth in the country in recruiting for the 2026 season, with a total of 19 commits. Michigan is also third in the Big Ten in the 2026 recruiting cycle behind Ohio State and USC.
