Saturday's Big 12 championship game has implications beyond TCU, Kansas State and the conference this season.

Indeed, eager eyes from all across the country — and particularly in Ohio and Alabama — will watch the action between the third-ranked Horned Frogs and 10th-ranked Wildcats unfold. If TCU somehow falls to the Wildcats an AT&T Stadium, then one of those teams stands to jump into the top four.

Adding to the intrigue of Saturday's game is the fact TCU needed an epic comeback to beat Kansas State in their Oct. 22 meeting: The Wildcats jumped out to a 28-10 lead before giving up four straight touchdowns to fall 38-28.

Chris Klieman's squad knows it can beat the top team in the Big 12, but Sonny Dykes' TCU squad is battle-tested, having beaten five ranked opponents and winning five one-possession games. The only thing that stands between the Horned Frogs and their first College Football Playoff is a team hellbent on scoring an upset.

Where is 'College GameDay' location for conference championship weekend?

  • Location: Arlington, Texas
  • Time: 9 a.m. ET
  • Matchup: No. 3 TCU vs. No. 10 Kansas State

TCU this week will make its 10th appearance on "GameDay" and third this season. The Horned Frogs are undefeated in "GameDay" games this season, beating Kansas and Texas by seven points each.

Overall, the Horned Frogs are 8-1 in their previous nine appearances. Their only loss, also in Arlington, was in 2018 to No. 4 Ohio State; the Buckeyes won 40-28.

Kansas State will make its seventh appearance all time, though the Wildcats have had significantly less success. They are 1-5, only beating No. 11 Nebraska in 1998. It is their first appearance since a 38-27 loss to Baylor on Dec. 6, 2014.

Moreover, this is just the third time "GameDay" has traveled to the Big 12 championship game and the first since 2007. The higher-ranked team is 1-1 in the previous two matchups.
