Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is one of the better players in the country entering the 2025-26 season. There's a strong argument to be made that Allar is the best college quarterback in the nation, and his draft stock reflects that.
Some believe that he could even go first overall in the 2026 NFL draft.
Others have him a few picks lower, at most.
In a recent mock draft from Pro Football Network, they had him falling to the second overall pick to replace Shedeur Sanders for the Cleveland Browns.
“Drew Allar is my second-ranked quarterback so far. Things can definitely change, but he has a strong arm and the ideal size. If Kevin Stefanski somehow survives another rough season, Allar’s comfort with play-action would be a solid fit for the Cleveland Browns. According to TruMedia, Allar ranked 22nd in EPA (expected points added) per dropback on play-action throws,” they wrote.

The Browns not giving Sanders more than a year or two to develop wouldn’t make much sense from their perspective.
Sanders proved throughout his college career that he can be a very good player, but it still remains uncertain what his future will be in the NFL after falling in the draft.
To say that Allar is a better player isn't unfair, but if Sanders shows anything of significance during his first year in Cleveland, if he even gets a chance to, it wouldn't make much sense to draft a quarterback.
Allar has some questions to answer, too, just like many of the young players in the country. After throwing for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions last season, the Ohio native looks poised to have an impressive year under center for the Nittany Lions.
