In what has been going on since 1936, the Associated Press has another College Football Top 25 poll.  Over 60 journalists who cover college football for the Associated Press give their rankings, and the compilation is released.

Last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes, led by head coach Ryan Day, finished at the top of the rankings.  Notre Dameand Oregon, both teams that the Buckeyes beat on their way to a College Football Playoff title, ended up second and third, respectively.

Ohio State was second to start last season. Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs were atop the list.

The top team in the country to start the 2025 season is the Texas Longhorns. Steve Sarkisian and his crew will have all eyes on them as they battle through another SEC season. The pressure will start early as quarterback Arch Manning and the Longhorns start their season on August 30 on the road at the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Second in the poll is the Penn State Nittany Lions, led by James Franklin. Ohio State is third, followed by Clemson and Georgia rounding out the Top 5.
