The greatest scorer in the history of New York high school basketball is working on his next steps.
Joe Girard III, the Glens Falls legend of 4,763-point fame, spent four college seasons at Syracuse and his final campaign at Clemson.
JG3 spent his first post-college season in Lithuania, and he led the league there in scoring at 21 points per game.
This summer, he had the chance to play in NBA Summer League but turned it down as he looks for a new European contract.
“There were a few teams that have called my agent saying that they would give me a spot. I just wanted to figure out if it was a spot that I would play,” Girard told Pete Tobey of The Post-Star. “I had a pretty good year overseas; I don’t want to go to Summer League and have it not work out or not play, and have it hurt my chances for next year, wherever that may be.”

Girard told Tobey that he has received interest from teams in Italy, Spain, Greece and the Adriatic League.
Coming off a European season where he shot 41.5% from 3-point range, too, Girard should get a great opportunity to keep climbing up the ladder of European basketball.
His legacy as a New York legend has long since been secured.
He averaged 50 points in a season, twice. He won a state championship as a quarterback and then did the same on the hardwood as a Glens Falls senior.
He lit up the Carrier Dome from beyond the arc, the upstate kid who stayed close to home.
And while Girard is now lining up another contract a long way from home, he keeps proving that he can shine bright at each new level that he reaches.
