Toronto and Boston.
In a Game 7.
Sounds familiar.
Of course, the three previous times were in hockey. In 2013, the Bruins trailed the Maple Leafs 4-1 with about 11 minutes to go in the third before mounting a comeback and winning in overtime. In 2018 and 2019, the games were Beantown blowouts (7-4 and 5-1, respectively).
The one solace for Toronto fans is that this year it was basketball and the final margin was only five points, 92-87 — although, the Celtics did eliminate the defending NBA champion Raptors, so that may sting a bit more.
Either way, Twitter of course reveled in the fact Boston once again knocked Toronto out of a postseason in a Game 7 — and for the third year in a row.
