After posting career lows in points and rebounds per game this past season, we may have seen the last of Chris Paul... at least in a San Antonio Spurs uniform.

The recently-turned 40-year-old future Hall of Fame guard wasn't the biggest on-court contributor for the Spurs, and it appears as if the 12-time NBA All-Star wants to continue playing, he may be at the stage of his career where it's time to be more of a mentor than an on-court asset. Either way, it likely won't be with the Spurs in 2025.

According to longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein, all signs are pointing to Paul needing to find a new home for his 21st NBA season should he decide to continue playing, citing the acquisition of De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle's Rookie of The Year presence and the likelihood of the club selecting Rutgers guard Dylan Harper with the second-overall pick in this summer's draft as the reasons for Paul's potential departure.

“Anticipation is building that Paul could be on the move again this offseason even though his time as a Spur as a mentor to Victor Wembanyama and a young team overall was an unabashed success. The reality now, though, is that San Antonio acquired De’Aaron Fox in February and just watched Stephon Castle assemble of a Rookie of the Year season.

"Since winning the May 12 draft lottery, San Antonio has likewise attempted to convey a desire to rival teams that it intends to keep the No. 2 overall pick in next month's draft to select Rutgers' Dylan Harper.”

Paul, 40, only averaged 8.8 points per game to go along with 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest this past season, but he was a big part of Wembanyama's development into an immediate All-Star caliber player.

If Paul were to sign with a new team in 2025, it would be his eighth team and fourth in the past four seasons.
