The Pelicans had a rough start to their offseason, finishing with the fourth-worst record in the NBA and dropping to number seven overall in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Although New Orleans finished as the 14th seed out in the West in 24-25, there was still hope that they could turn the corner since they faced a lot of injuries.

After a poor record though, the Pelicans hired a new GM who has plans to make some big moves this summer.

What moves could new GM Joe Dumars make?

Joe Dumars was hired as the Pelicans' new head of basketball operations for the organization, and according to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, no players on the current roster are untouchable.

As mentioned, injuries played a large part in New Orleans' down year just one year after having their best record since the 08-09 NBA season.

It wasn't too long ago that Zion Williamson was talked about as a trade candidate, and now if no players are protected, it's not guaranteed that he's safe with his injury history and now legal allegations against his name.

Unfortunately, Dejounte Murray is coming off an achilles injury with a long recovery timeline, but could be someone that is traded for around the trade deadline next year.

Brandon Ingram was one of New Orleans' franchise players, yet he was traded away to Toronto last season.

Things could really shake up within the Pelicans roster, so don't be surprised to see players' names all over rumors throughout the next few months and during the 25-26 season.
