Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez is set to hit the free agency market. While many Bucks fans want Lopez off the team, it's important to remember that he's still a decent player and has put together a nice career for himself.

Lopez might not be what he once was, including during the earlier stages of his Bucks career, which started in the 2018-19 season, but he was still serviceable at times.

He shot 37.3% from 3-point range and averaged 13.0 points a year ago. With his ability to block shots, Lopez should be in demand on the free agency market, despite getting up there in age.

Looking for potential options to replace Kristaps Porzingis, Sports Illustrated recently linked Lopez to the Boston Celtics, a move that would be surprising for several reasons.

For one, the Bucks and Celtics are rivals, having faced each other in the playoffs several times over the past decade. On paper, many considered them to be the better teams in the Eastern Conference during that span, and it's tough to argue that they haven't found the most success as individual teams since Lopez came to Milwaukee.

“In the scenario that the Celtics don't reset the franchise this summer, they could end up getting a center who is more of a win-now option. Brook Lopez would be that guy.

“Lopez is a free agent and would likely be pretty cheap to sign, even for a guy in the luxury tax. If they can't make that work, they could get him in a sign-and-trade,” they wrote.

Lopez and Porzingis are very different players, as Lopez isn't exactly the most athletic player out there.

Porzingis is much better at this stage of his career, but if the Celtics want to save money, the former Bucks center could be a decent option.
