The Los Angeles Lakers have been a part of some crazy rumors this offseason, per usual.
After they acquired Luka Dončić during the midseason portion of last year, fans have discovered that anything is possible when it comes to trading away players.
Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes also seems to believe so, in this crazy hypothetical trade that would send LeBron James to play with an up-and-coming generational star.
“It's time to imagine a future in which James and Victor Wembanyama fast-track the San Antonio Spurs' march toward contention,” said Hughes on Thursday. “The Spurs might not want to part with any of their precious draft equity, but including that Atlanta (Hawks) pick is the best way to keep Dylan Harper or Stephon Castle out of the deal.
If this is merely a one-season rental after which James hits free agency and leaves, the price the Spurs are paying is still probably worth it. The value of James' mentorship could be massive for Wembanyama, whose game and demeanor make him far more complementary to LeBron than Luka Dončić is in Los Angeles.”

This hypothetical trade would send the San Antonio Spurs LeBron James, and the Lakers would land Keldon Johnson, Harrison Barnes, Jeremy Sochan, and Atlanta’s 2027 first-round pick.
San Antonio has positioned themselves nicely, with expendable contracts and loads of young talent on the roster.
A trio of De’Aaron Fox, Victor Wembanyama, and James, alongside the rising stars of Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, would be an extremely fun and competitive team.
It would gear the Lakers up for a post-LeBron era and help Wemby capture his first ring early.
