Rockets’ Kevin Durant chooses his new jersey number after big trade image

Kevin Durant is officially a Houston Rocket.

And now, he officially has a number for the back of his jersey.

KD will rock the No. 7 with the Rockets.

He has worn 7 once before, when he was with the Brooklyn Nets.

In Durant’s NBA time with the Sonics, Thunder, Warriors and Suns, he was No. 35.

The No. 7 was most recently worn for Houston by Cam Whitmore, who was just traded to the Wizards.

As best we can tell, the No. 35 is also available for Houston. Durant evidently decided to go with the lucky number 7.

Ironically, the Rockets have had No. 7 worn by at least four players who could be described as having been past their peak by the time they reached Houston: Carmelo Anthony, Joe Johnson, Jeremy Lin and Victor Oladipo.

Durant is coming off an incredibly efficient scoring season even in a messy Suns situation, and he’ll hope to carry that on into Houston with 7 on his back.
