The Golden State Warriors have indicated that they are interested in Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists last season, and is currently a restricted free agent, which could make it tougher for the Warriors to actually be able to get anything done regarding him.

“I’m told that the Warriors continue to value Josh Giddey’s skillset and have communicated their interest to the Australian point guard’s representation,” Fischer said. “There simply does not appear to be a feasible pathway to such a trade … not right now. The base-year compensation issue alone makes it challenging before we even get to the limited salary-matching and outgoing player flexibility that Golden State is currently facing.”

Giddey has turned into one of the Bulls’ most impactful players since being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Alex Caruso. Giddey was previously offered a four-year, $80 million deal by the Bulls, but hasn’t budged on the offer. The Bulls are currently in a rebuild, and Giddey could be a major piece going forward should he continue his upwards trajectory.

The Warriors could benefit from Giddey’s all-around skillset. The 22-year-old notched seven triple-doubles last season, and has long been highly touted for his playmaking abilities at his size.

Golden State has also been marred in a contract dispute with Jonathan Kuminga, so Giddey could potentially be viewed as a backup plan if they are unable to come to a resolution with Kuminga.
