After the Dallas Mavericks received the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, with most expecting the team to select Cooper Flagg, there will be some tough decisions the organization has to make.

After trading Luka Doncic during the deadline last season, many have questioned the Mavericks' plan. However, on paper, Dallas still looks to be a very good team.

If the Mavericks were healthy, they’d have an argument to be one of the better teams in the Western Conference, and adding Flagg should only help that.

However, there could be a scenario where they move on from some of their top players soon, and Austin Veazey of Sports Illustrated predicted a few that could be traded after the latest development.

One of them was P.J. Washington, a massive contributor to the Mavericks' roster during the 2024 season when they made the NBA Finals.

“Another beloved member of the team that made the 2024 NBA Finals, P.J. Washington's role could be in flux after the team lands Cooper Flagg. Washington looked out of position anyway once the Anthony Davis trade went down, as he's more of a power forward in today's NBA, not a small forward. He's also entering the last year of his deal, making $14.1 million, and an extension isn't guaranteed,” he wrote.

Washington is a bigger, athletic threat who offers some versatility at multiple positions at 6'6”, but he's typically best suited at the four, and he succeeded in that role for the Mavericks.

He averaged 14.7 points a season, shooting 38.1% from 3-point range on 4.2 attempts per game. If he becomes available, teams should be interested in trading for him.
