Cooper Flagg will presumably be drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the top pick in next week’s NBA Draft. As he prepares for his next chapter ahead of him in Dallas, his top sponsor is getting in on the hype surrounding the 18-year-old prodigy.
New Balance is coming with a merchandise drop on June 23rd, the day of the NBA Draft. The drop will feature a T-shirt for $75, and a crewneck for $155 with “Flagg Day” branding, a play on words for the day of the NBA Draft.
The shirt and the crewneck will be available in blue, grey, and white, taking inspiration from both his team colors at Duke, and his soon-to-be Dallas Mavericks’ colors.
Flagg — who is one of New Balance’s top basketball athletes — wasn’t able to have many marketing opportunities while he was in college due to Duke’s close ties with Nike. According to New Balance’s press release, the collection draws inspiration from Flagg's countless hours dedicated to the game that has taken him from Newport, Maine, to the national player of the year in his lone season at Duke.
Flagg has been one of the most hyped-up NBA prospects for quite some time, even dating back to his high school days at Monteverde in Florida. The projected first overall pick averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists at Duke last season. The 18-year-old took home plenty of hardware for his performance, including the Wooden Award, the Naismith Award, as well as being named a Consensus All-American, and winning AP Player of the Year.
