The Flagg is now at full mast in Dallas, and it could be planted at point guard next season.

The Dallas Mavericks somehow survived the ramifications of the infamous Luka Doncic trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers. How? By landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg.

Flagg is one of the more impressive draft prospects in recent memory, and is coming off of a historic freshman season at Duke where he was named Player of the Year, and a Consensus All-American.

The two-way forward has all the tools to become a superstar one day, and has no glaring weaknesses in his game. So much so, that head coach Jason Kidd has a desire to play Flagg at point guard throughout the season.

With Kyrie Irving out for most of next season while he recovers from a torn ACL, it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility that Flagg could be playing point guard for extended stretches. Flagg was asked by FanSided’s Noah Weber about playing the position.

“Yeah I’m looking forward to it,” Flagg said. “Coach Scheyer trusted me a lot last year, and I handled it a lot…Set up a lot of different actions, I think it’s something I can do at a high level, so I’m excited to just experiment and do some new things.”

Flagg will be surrounded by a strong supporting cast in his rookie season, playing alongside Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, D’Angelo Russell, among others.
