The NASCAR Cup Series is making some history this weekend. For the first time since 1958, a points-paying Cup Series race will be held outside of the United States.

The Cup Series will run the first-ever Viva Mexico 250 on Sunday, June 15. The race will be held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. This will be one of the five road course races of the season, with 15 turns around the 2.429-mile track.

The first road course race was held on March 2 and was the 2025 EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, and it was won by Christopher Bell. Denny Hamlin won last week's race in Michigan, with William Byron heading into this weekend as the playoff standings points leader.

Here is a look at the starting lineup for the 2025 Viva Mexico 2025.

Who won the Viva Mexico 250 pole for 2025?

Shane Van Gisbergen won his second career pole. He will be joined on the front line by Ryan Preece. Road-course qualifying is similar to how they do qualifying in Formula 1. The drivers were given a set amount of time, with a running clock. They were allowed to make as many lap attempts as they wanted in that time, with only the fastest counting for the standings. Van Gisbergen ran three laps, with his fastest coming in at 92.776 seconds. Preece only ran one lap at 92.84 seconds, and it was good enough for the front row on Sunday.
