The Washington Nationals are already filled with young talent.
And with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft at their disposal, it's going to get even better.
MLB.com released a new mock draft, and they've got the Nationals taking the favored top choice: Ethan Holliday, the son of the legendary Matt Holliday and brother of Orioles rising star Jackson Holliday.
Ethan Holliday is a high school senior at Stillwater in Oklahoma and projects to play on the left side of the infield, either at shortstop or third base.
He'd be the second No. 1 overall pick for the Holliday boys in four years after older bro went to the Orioles in the top slot in 2022.
"(Ethan) Holliday is three inches taller than his brother and could offer more power as he grows into his frame, with third base his more likely long-term position," Sporting News writer Dan Treacy said in his own mock draft. "Some teams have gotten creative at No. 1 and saved money for later in the draft, but the Nationals are still more likely to add one more blue-chip prospect to their arsenal by choosing Holliday."

The Nationals may have their shortstop of the future already in C.J. Abrams, but that's a problem to solve later.
For the time being, it's up to them to get the best player possible into their organization.
If Holliday develops as hoped, then you can worry about the MLB batting lineup in a few years.
