The Toronto Blue Jays may need to swing a trade to add some depth behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He was removed from a game after a hit by a pitch, and it shed light on how thin the team is behind him.
Guerrero was removed from a game against the Cleveland Guardians after being hit by a pitch. David Schneider came in to replace him, playing third base. This season, Ernie Clement has played the most at first base besides Guerrero. However, if something were to happen that forces Guerrero to miss time, the team could be in a rough spot.
Guerrero is slashing .280/.384/.451 with 12 home runs. He is the franchise player and the Blue Jays are in the midst of a postseason push. They hold one of the American Wild Card spots, entering play on Monday, and are only three games out of the AL East lead. FanSided's Baron Dionis suggested the Blue Jays reunite with Rowdy Tellez to add depth behind Guerrero.
"Since he is jobless right now, Toronto should quickly offer a minor league contract to the former Blue Jay," wrote Dionis. "The left handed power bat could very well improve the depth at first base, while providing power upside. He may not be what he once was when he blasted 35 homers in a year, but he still could bring solid tools to a coaching staff that could truly help him."
Tellez has slashed .208/.249/.434 this season with 11 home runs. All 11 of his home runs have come against right-handed pitching and he has a .720 OPS against righties.

Tellez may not be a superstar, but he may be good enough to keep the Blue Jays afloat if something happened to Guerrero. He started his career with the Blue Jays. He played 219 games with the team before he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.
