The Toronto Blue Jays are having a magical season, and it can get even better.

A bunch of Blue Jays are still due to return from injury sometime soon to help down the stretch.

Shane Bieber, the former Cy Young winner acquired from the Guardians before the trade deadline, has yet to pitch for Toronto as he recovers from his Tommy John surgery in 2024.

Bieber is set to make another rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, with the hope of throwing between 80 and 85 pitches, according to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon.

The outfield could use a couple big bats back, too, with both George Springer and Anthony Santander on the mend.

Springer is working to return from a concussion. According to Bannon, he's currently in Toronto and taking part in batting practice, running and fielding before games.

The Blue Jays hope Springer is cleared in the next couple days to head off on a rehab assignment, per Bannon.

Santander is recovering from a shoulder injury. He's also in Toronto, and the Blue Jays hope he can start swinging in the "next week or so," per Bannon.

Among Bannon's other injury updates:

  • Second baseman Andres Gimenez (ankle) is back
  • Relief pitcher Nick Sandlin (elbow) is playing catch out to 105 feet in Florida
  • Starting pitcher Alek Manoah (Tommy John) will make his next rehab start in Triple A on Wednesday with the goal of 70 to 75 pitches.

The Blue Jays are strong already, and reinforcements are on their way.
