The Toronto Blue Jays know their window to win a World Series is right now. The team sits tied for first in the American League and has been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball the past month.
With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox having down seasons, Toronto knows they have to capitalize on it. The Blue Jays went out at the trade deadline and made a significant splash, trading for Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber.
Bieber has been one of the best pitchers in the MLB when healthy, but the only issue is he hasn't pitched in a major league game since the early part of 2024.
The 30-year-old pitcher has been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and should be able to start for the Blue Jays soon. Toronto only needs Bieber for the playoffs, and if he can be the pitcher he once was, the team could win the World Series.
Bailey Bassett from ClutchPoints thinks the Blue Jays had a great deadline and has given them an A+ grade.

"The Toronto Blue Jays needed to make a splashy move or two to stay ahead of the pack in the loaded AL East. They certainly did so with trades for Shane Bieber and Seranthony Dominguez. Bieber hasn't returned yet from his Tommy John recovery, but he drastically increases the ceiling of Toronto's rotation that already features Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, and Max Scherzer," Bassett wrote. Bieber has a Cy Young and a Triple Crown to his name. Additionally, Dominguez was one of the best relievers available on the trading block."
It's now time to see how Bieber pitches in the postseason and if the trade was worth it in the end.
