It's hard not to be a fan of Alejandro Kirk.

He's listed at 5-foot-8 and 245 pounds, and he might be shorter, and he might weigh more. The Toronto Blue Jays' catcher is, in some ways, the epitome of the beauty of baseball. It doesn't matter what you look like. It matters what your body can do.

On Friday night, Kirk's body did something for the first time.

It was his 532nd MLB game, and through 531 of these things, he had never stolen a base.

It's logical, of course. Kirk hadn't even attempted a steal. Who's giving him the green light?

But in a first-and-third situation vs. the Rangers, Kirk took off from first. And, with the risk of allowing the runner to come home on the throw, Texas only faked the throw down to second.

A steal, Kirk's first of his MLB career.

Maybe the best part? After the game, Kirk kept second base for himself.

Hopefully at this point, Kirk puts on the red light for the rest of his career.

He's a 100% base stealer. That can't be messed with.

Or maybe he'll start running wild. Never like a first career stolen base to start a slow, rumbling avalanche.

Either way, baseball is the best. You never know what you're going to see. On this night, the odds of Kirk stealing a base were essentially zero. But then he did it anyway.
