Giants' Justin Verlander gets huge injury update after Rafael Devers trade image

The San Francisco Giants are letting the good times roll.

A day after acquiring Rafael Devers in a trade, the Giants learned they'll be getting a future Hall of Famer back on the field.

Justin Verlander will be returning from the 15-day IL to start on Wednesday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

Verlander has been out with a pectoral injury, but his return comes at a good time to allow the Giants to keep their momentum going.

He has made 10 starts so far this season, with a 4.33 ERA.

Now 42 years old, Verlander doesn't have the length into games that he used to, but he's still a wily veteran who can get outs.

If he can settle in at the back of the Giants' rotation, he's a great guy to keep wins going back to the aces.

Verlander has 41 strikeouts in 52 innings, a decline in his overall stuff. His 1.40 WHIP is also a tad concerning.

But back on the mound is better than not.

And it's much better to watch Verlander wind down his career on the field rather than on the injured list.
