Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. still has positive outlook following Dodgers sweep image

The San Diego Padres were recently swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game weekend set, which took place at Dodger Stadium. Two of the three games were one-run games, and the Padres will have their chance at redemption later this week with three games against the Dodgers at Petco Park.

The exception in this past series was a 6-0 rout by Los Angeles in the second game of the series.

However, the Padres are taking too much from this series, and their biggest star still has ultimate belief in his team.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is still confident in the Padres' division chances

Despite losing grip of their one-game lead in the National League West, the Padres are still just one game back of LA.

Here is what he told reporters following the 5-4 loss on Sunday:

“We’re still aiming to win the division," said Tatis Jr. "We’re going to face them next week. A lot of baseball left. And with this team, we can do anything.”

As for the Padres' $340 million outfielder, Tatis Jr. had a nice series, going 3-11 with a pair of walks.

Fernando also acknowledged that the Padres did not play their best baseball in the series. There was untimely hitting, costly baserunning decisions, and too many strikeouts.

The Padres have lost four in a row after their series-opening loss to the San Francisco Giants, and the Dodgers come into town on Friday for another three-game weekend set.
