The Philadelphia Phillies could certainly use help for their bullpen.
The MLB trade deadline always presents opportunities to pick up relief pitching from teams out of the race.
The Athletic pitches two top relievers as candidates to come to the Phillies.
One is Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians. The other is Jhoan Duran of the Minnesota Twins.
Clase throws cutters approaching triple digits. Duran throws a nasty sinker that can touch 103.
The Phillies could've used more bullpen help even at the start of the season, but after Jose Alvarado's suspension, it has gotten worse.

Jordan Romano didn't last as the closer, and lately, the effective Orion Kerkering has had a couple unlucky endings to games.
Either of Clase or Duran would be a massive pickup for the Phillies. They might require a decent prospect return, but likely an amount that would be worth it in the long run for guys who are both under club control for multiple seasons after this one.
If the Phillies want to maximize their season, they should go after Clase or Duran.
