The Philadelphia Phillies' first-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft put together one of the greatest starts in college baseball history.
In the College World Series. No hits allowed. And 19 batters struck out.
At No. 26 overall, that right arm joined the Phillies.
Gage Wood out of Arkansas is the young man heading to Philadelphia.
Clearly, his draft slot indicates his long-term upside isn't viewed as quite the same level as the guys who went before him.
But you don't have a magical outing like that without immense ability.

It's the kind of outing that Phillies fans can watch over and over to dream on Wood's potential.
Maybe he reaches it, and maybe he doesn't.
But buried in there somewhere is that College World Series legend. And maybe someday, he can bring that along to the MLB World Series.
