The Philadelphia Phillies are nipping at the heels of the New York Mets in the National League East. Despite a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, Philadelphia is only 2 1/2 games out of first place.

Players such as Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm have underperformed. While Harper's track record suggests a turnaround is likely, things are less certain with Bohm.

The Phillies were considered a possible landing spot for Nolan Arenado last offseason. But a new option may have just emerged.

The Boston Red Sox and Rafael Devers are at an impasse with Devers refusing to move to first base. A trade is not out of the realm of possibility.

Kerry Miller listed the Phillies as a possible landing spot for the three-time All-Star.

"Trading for Devers and feeling much better about the long-term future at third base is probably a better use of funds than reinvesting heavily in what will be a 35-year-old catcher by the start of next season," Miller writes.

The Phillies would significantly benefit from adding a presence like Devers to their lineup. With Bohm struggling, he could easily take over third base in Philadelphia.

Devers is slashing .285/.407/.494 with seven home runs, 31 RBI and a .901 OPS despite all the drama in Boston. He's a two-time Silver Slugger and 2018 World Series champion in addition to his three All-Star nods.

This would give the Phillies an even better chance to win a World Series in the near future.

We'll see if they decide to make this move. It all depends on if Devers requests a trade.
