Well, that didn't take long.
The MLB wild-card round saw eight teams battle it out in best-of-three series starting on Tuesday. By Wednesday night, all four series were over. The Rangers hammered the Rays, the Twins quieted the Blue Jays, the Diamondbacks battled back twice against the Brewers and the Phillies dominated the Marlins.
Four teams were able to wait while all the action unfolded. The Orioles and Astros earned the byes in the American League, while the Braves and Dodgers waited their turn to play in the National League. Starting on Saturday, all eight teams left in the pursuit for a World Series title will be back in action.
These series certainly provided excitement. The Braves and Phillies matched up in a showdown of high-powered offenses as Philadelphia dominated its rival in the NLDS for a second straight year. The Diamondbacks surprised many with a sweep of the Dodgers. The Rangers quickly put an end to the Orioles' surprising run in 2023. And the Astros defeated the Twins to advance to the ALCS for a seventh consecutive year.
