The New York Yankees are in need of a starting pitcher. Their rotation has been hit hard by injuries this year.
On top of not having former Cy Young Gerrit Cole and falling out of first place in the American League East, Clarke Schmidt is now out for the rest of 2025 due to Tommy John surgery.
There will be plenty of arms available at the trade deadline this summer. The Yankees will be one of many teams searching for reinforcements.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report proposed the idea of New York making a trade within the division to acquire Zach Eflin from the Baltimore Orioles.
"Zach Eflin is currently on the injured list with lower back discomfort. Injuries have been a theme throughout his career, but this is someone with experience both as a starter and reliever in the postseason who could help the Yankees," Kelly wrote.

Eflin has struggled this year with Baltimore. He is 6-5 with a 5.95 ERA in 12 starts.
However, with the Yankees lacking top prospects, Eflin shouldn't be too expensive. Once he returns from the injured list, he could be just what the Yankees need to fill the hole in their rotation.
It's important to note that trades between division rivals are quite uncommon, but still possible. The Yankees shouldn't have to give up too much due to Eflin's struggles.
Adding another arm could be what the Yankees need in order to turn their season around and take the top spot in the AL East back from the Toronto Blue Jays.
It will be interesting to see how New York goes about its search for an arm this summer.
