The New York Yankees are off to a strong start in 2025 despite dealing with multiple injuries in their lineup and their starting rotation. At 14-10, they own the third-best record in the American League.

However, there are some holes that are going to need to be addressed for the Bronx Bombers. With Jazz Chisholm Jr. playing second base, they don't have a proven option at third base.

Oswaldo Cabrera has been playing third, but his bat is questionable.

Dayn Perry of CBS Sports proposed the idea of New York trading for St. Louis Cardinals slugger Nolan Arenado.

"All of this is to say the two factors most essential to keeping the Arenado trade market alive – improved offensive performance on Arenado's part and poor results at the team level for St. Louis – are trending in the necessary directions. It's too speculative to get into trade specifics, but it's worth noting a couple of situations," Perry wrote.

"One, the New York Yankees, who employ Arenado's close friend and former Cardinals teammate Paul Goldschmidt, may still see him as an upgrade over Oswaldo Cabrera at third base."

The Yankees need some power from the right side of the plate, and Arenado can provide that, especially in a hitter-friendly environment such as Yankee Stadium.

The slugger is off to a hot start with St. Louis this year, slashing .268/.375/.427 with two home runs, 10 RBI, an .802 OPS and a 126 OPS+.

The Cardinals are off to a slow start and may be sellers at the trade deadline if they can't change the trajectory of their season. But the eight-time All-Star is boosting his trade value with a hot start.

We'll see if the Yankees end up showing interest in the third baseman.
