The good news for the New York Yankees is that Marcus Stroman is on the mend.
The right-handed pitcher made a solid rehab start at Double-A Somerset on Wednesday, throwing 46 pitches and striking out four batters in 3.1 one-run innings.
The trickier part is what comes next: How do they want to use Stroman?
The veteran righty struggled in the rotation early in the season before getting hurt.
Reporters at the Somerset game asked Stroman about going to the bullpen, and he said, "I could be open to (it)."

Stroman had an 11.57 ERA this season before his injury.
Of Stroman's 264 big league pitching appearances, 255 have been starts.
The Yankees could potentially use some bullpen help, but really, they'd much prefer Stroman return to his old self as a starting pitcher.
But if he's not capable of that, there's a chance his varied arsenal would play well up out of the bullpen.
The Yankees will surely stretch him out more to allow him to start when he's ready, but maybe they'll decide to do the opposite.
