The New York Yankees bullpen could use a boost at the trade deadline. They are dealing with some injuries and could find some help from one of their division rivals.
The Yankees' bullpen has a 3.8 ERA this season. Jake Cousins has been on the injured list and suffered a setback during his rehab assignment. Luke Weaver is on the injured list now and Devin Williams has been inconsistent. The Yankees only have two lefties in the bullpen right now, Tim Hill and Brent Headrick.
If the Yankees want to make a World Series run, they may need to add a southpaw in their bullpen. FanSided's Peyton Crowder suggested they could trade for Mason Fluharty of the Toronto Blue Jays.
"It's unlikely that the Blue Jays would trade one of their brightest young arms to a division rival, especially when they currently occupy a Wild Card spot and are tied with the Rays for second place in the AL East," wrote Crowder. "But, should they hit a skid in the coming weeks, who knows what could happen if the Yankees are willing to overpay? The Blue Jays are always active in some way shape or form at the deadline, but in what way remains to be seen this year."
Fluharty would cost the Yankees more than other teams. He has a 3.81 ERA in 29 games this season and has allowed just one home run. His numbers do not jump off the page, but he can be an effective pitcher. He is just a rookie and is still in the pre-arbitration stages of his contract. He does not have a deep arsenal, but still manages to keep hitters guessing.

"Fluharty, who was drafted in the fifth round by Toronto back in 2022, utilizes only two pitches: A cutter and a sweeper," wrote Crowder. "The huge difference in break between the 90 MPH cutter and the 80 MPH sweeper keeps hitters off-balance, inducing a lot of weak flyballs and popups."
