The New York Yankees' newest pitcher has been dealing at Triple-A this season.

And if he gets into a game, it'll be his MLB debut.

The Yankees announced they've called up Jayvien Sandridge for Thursday's matchup with the Angels. Yerry de los Santos was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Sandridge is an incredible story.

He was a 32nd-round pick by the Orioles in 2018 out of a Pennsylvania high school.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound lefty has since journeyed through the minors in Baltimore, Cincinnati and San Diego's systems before joining New York's organization for this season.

Sandridge worked his way back from injury to get to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he has made six appearances. In those outings, Sandridge has a 1.29 ERA.

He has struck out 13 batters in seven Triple-A innings this season.

Sure, it's a small-sample size, but it seems like the Yankees are bringing Sandridge up while he's in a groove.

There's no guarantee Sandridge sticks around long, so hopefully he gets into a game sooner rather than later. It's not often than 32nd-round picks make it to the major leagues.

But in Yankee Stadium on Thursday, there'll be Sandridge, looking up at the huge stands and fulfilling a moment he probably dreamed of often, despite the long odds.
