Devin Williams was acquired by the Yankees in hopes of being a reliable end-of-the-game closer for the team.
Consistency by Williams has been far from present, as the Yankees have been struggling to win close games recently.
Williams has unfortunately taken much of the blame, as he's struggled to get the job done in recent key appearances.
Amid the recent struggles from Williams and the Yankees as a team, Boone gave insight into a change in how the Yankees might use Williams moving forward.
What did Boone say about Williams?
Boone was on the Talkin' Yanks show on Tuesday, where he answered a question about what the plan is going forward with Williams.
Boone said, "We'll get him into some lower leverage spots, but you don't always have that say going into a night depending on who's available, who's not...you gotta be ready for all situations."

He understands that there'll have to be some slight changes as the Yankees have to adapt to the roster they have.
Williams has mainly been used at the end of games, but it could be beneficial to use him in lower-pressure scenarios. Sometimes that can be enough so a player gets their confidence back and eventually returns to playing when they're meant to thrive.
Williams has let up at least one earned run in five out of his last six appearances. In that same stretch, his ERA has gone up from 4.58 to 5.60.
The Yankees currently sit a game ahead of the Guardians for the final Wild Card spot. Williams will play a huge role in whether or not the Yankees can pull it together and squeeze into the postseason.
