The New York Mets have been linked to Luis Robert Jr. all season.
The Chicago White Sox's five-tool centerfielder would solve a big issue for the Mets.
Finally, just days before the trade deadline, there is clarity on what it would take to get a deal done.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the White Sox would only trade Robert to the Cubs if Mark Vientos comes in return.
Vientos is a talented third baseman who has been a bit erratic at the plate this season. He could certainly still be a part of the Mets' future plans.
But on the other hand, the Mets have other young options who can play third base, including Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio. They're in a solid position to give up Vientos.

If that's what it takes to get Robert, the Mets should do it.
Robert isn't on an expiring contract. He has a pair of team options that mean he can be New York's centerfield answer for the next couple of seasons, too.
You've got to give some to get some, and this is a fair asking price and a deal that could work out for both sides.
