The New York Mets are currently leading the National League East, but making some additions could help them run away with the division and make another deep postseason run.
The Mets could benefit from adding a center fielder to the current star-studded roster. Juan Soto is not playing his best right now, but when he gets things going, he is going to be tough to slow down. Whenever that happens, the Mets need to make sure they have everything in place to make a World Series push.
ESPN's Jeff Passan suggested the Mets should trade for Cedric Mullins of the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles are poised to become sellers, and Mullins is a prime candidate to be moved before the July 31 trade deadline.
"Mullins has been one of the Orioles' lone bright spots this season, and as solid as Tyrone Taylor has been in center, Mullins' bat is significantly better and his glove, though admittedly lesser than Taylor's, is perfectly acceptable," wrote Passan. "Let Mullins bat for the first seven innings, put Taylor in for defensive purposes in the eighth and a Mets team with championship aspirations gets that much better."
Mullins will be a free agent after the season. He is set to earn a four-year, $56 million deal in free agency, according to Spotrac. He could be an ideal rental for the Mets this year. He is hitting just .232, but has a .771 OPS and 10 home runs.

Taylor is slashing .238/.295/.338 this year. Mullins brings more power to the plate and could thrive in a lineup where he is the fourth biggest threat. Between Pete Alonso, Soto, Francisco Lindor and Mullins, the Mets would have enough offense to compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup in the National League.
