Twins sign .428 hitter after draft with dreams of D-III to MLB image

It's hard to argue with a .428 batting average.

Harry Genth is hoping that the door his hitting opened can lead all the way to MLB.

The Minnesota Twins signed Genth as an undrafted free agent. Why didn't he get picked? He played for Division III Haverford.

But man, the numbers were astounding.

His slugging percentage at Haverford was 1.034. Not his OPS, his slugging.

His OPS, for reference, was 1.600.

Genth hit 15 doubles, two triples and 23 homers. He drove in 77 runs. He stole 31 bases in 32 attempts.

He's also had a good summer in the MLB Draft League for Trenton.

The Twins had absolutely nothing to lose here.

And if Genth is even a fraction of the player he was at the Division III level statistically, he'll have a chance.
