The Los Angeles Dodgers’ bullpen has been struggling over the past month. Going into their game on Friday night, the Dodgers were tied in the standings with the Padres, allowing them to make a comeback and even the race. Right now, the Dodgers’ bullpen is definitely the weak spot for the franchise.
“What happened was the Dodgers’ belief in the recovering health of their bullpen. And, um, yeah, unless you want to bring Bobby Miller up from Oklahoma City to close games (not a bad idea, eh?), it’s not getting fixed anytime soon,” Los Angeles Times’ Bill Plasche wrote.
The Dodgers also received news that Brusdar Graterol will not be able to pitch this season.
“Graterol underwent surgery after the World Series to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. It's a major procedure with a long timetable for recovery, and Graterol was not expected to pitch this year before the All-Star break. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers placed Graterol on the injured list in March. Although Graterol had reported to the Dodgers' Camelback Ranch complex in Arizona to begin his rehab, manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday the pitcher has not been cleared to begin a throwing program. Now, Roberts said, it appears unlikely Graterol will have enough time to pitch in 2025,” SI’s JP Hoornstra reported.
While that is bad news for the bullpen, there is some good news regarding Tanner Scott, who threw against live batters on Friday.
“22 pitch live BP for Dodgers Tanner Scott. Said his arm feels ‘great,’ ball was ‘coming out good.’ Wouldn’t offer a guess on when he will be ready to return,” Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett said.

This is a promising sign, as the Dodgers will be getting a huge piece of their bullpen back sometime soon. Scott was signed by the Dodgers before the start of the season. With Los Angeles likely to make the playoffs, having Scott back will be huge. Finally, the Dodgers are looking forward to some positive development in their bullpen.
